Second Florida Cavalry

Lieutenant Colonel Abner McCormick commanded 202 men from the Second Florida Cavalry at Olustee. The regiment protected the Confederate right flank, and at one point a portion was dismounted and stopped a Union effort to turn the flank. The Second Cavalry suffered no known losses during the battle.

Part of the regiment, including Company H, commanded by Captain John J. Dickinson, was not present during the engagement.

Previously, on 10 February, Companies B and F fought a delaying action at the St. Mary's River, against the initial Union advance into Florida, and then retreated to Sanderson.
